The Expobar Brewtus IV is a large capacity dual-boiler espresso machine equipped with a vibration pump. The brew boiler temperature is monitored by a PID, which keeps temperature stable to the degree, and can be adjusted to accommodate various espresso roasts. The dual-boiler system allows you to brew and steam at the same time and also helps with temperature stability. Expobar rounds out the design with their specially redesigned E61 group. Traditionally, an E61 constantly syphons hot water through the brew circuit to ensure temperature stability; Expobar also integrated a concave pre-infusion chamber into the Brewtus IV-P’s group to fully saturate the grounds prior to brewing for a more even extraction. The Brewtus IV’s large dual boilers are filled by a generous 2.6 L water reservoir, which can be easily outfitted with a water softener. Internally, Expobar utilizes premium-level components, which are configured in such a way that any future maintenance is sure to be hassle-free.
We must admit, we’re rather partial toward the Brewtus models, as we were instrumental in the machines’ development back in the mid-2000s. We’ve found that the Brewtus IV is highly efficient, making it just as at home on an entertainer’s countertop as it is in light-duty commercial space. It’s not as pretty as some of its peers, but the Brewtus is interested in performance, not appearance, and it undercuts the competition on price, too. The Brewtus IV is ideal for the serious espresso lover who favors results over aesthetics. Other versions include the Brewtus IV-P which also has a vibration pump, and a plumbability option; and the Brewtus IV-R, which is a rotary pump machine that is exclusively plumbable and doesn’t include a reservoir.
The independent, insulated copper boilers provide stable temperatures and allow you to brew and steam at the same time, which is invaluable for everyone who likes making speciality drinks or for entertaining guests. Optionally, either boiler can be switched off for energy-saving single-boiler use and faster heat up times.
Redesigned E-61 Group Head
A standard E-61 group constantly syphons water from the boiler to the group and back, but Expobar raised the bar by adding a pre-infusion chamber. This innovative addition evenly distributes hot water over the grounds for a uniform saturation during pre-infusion and throughout the brewing process.
Lifting the brew lever halfway will activate Expobar’s unique pre-infusion feature. The machine will carefully moisten coffee grounds prior to extraction so that you can get the most flavor and aroma out of your coffee.
No-Burn Steam Wand
The Brewtus IV’s steam wand has been carefully insulated to remain cool to the touch, even while in use. The wand is mounted on a ball joint, and can swivel and rotate to accommodate frothing pitchers and a variety of cup sizes.
